Tasting notes: caramel and red apple
Huila sits between two ranges of the Andes, and its Colombian lots are known for sweetness with a gentle fruit edge. This one opens on caramel, moves to crisp red apple, and finishes clean and sweet. The body is medium and round, the acidity soft. Nothing sharp, nothing smoky: a cup that pleases a whole table.
A medium roast develops those sugars fully while keeping the apple-like freshness, which is why this lot works as both filter and espresso.
A Colombian bean for any brewer
Huila Sunrise is forgiving. As pour-over, use 15 g for 250 g of water at 93 °C. In a French press, 30 g for 500 g of water and a 4-minute steep give a syrupy, caramel-heavy mug. As espresso, 18 g in and 38 g out in about 30 seconds tastes like apple tart. Every recipe is detailed in the brewing guide, and a hand grinder lets you switch between them.
Everyday caramel sweetness, with or without milk
Drink it black for the fruit, or add milk and the caramel comes forward. Want more intensity? Ember espresso is roasted a step darker. Prefer the same comfort without caffeine? Quiet Hours decaf is also Colombian. Sold as whole bean or ground to order, in a resealable 250 g bag.
